EducationUSA Academy is a college-preparatory program for international high school students interested in studying in the United States. Hosted by nine U.S. colleges and universities, the program provides valuable skills and experiences helping students strengthen their applications and prepare for future success. 2023 Academy programs will be offered both virtually and in-person.

The EducationUSA Academy is a pre-college academic enrichment program for international high school students offering specialized college preparatory content, college-level writing workshops, campus visits, and cultural activities. Students gain an insider’s perspective on higher education in the United States while getting the chance to experience and enjoy campus life.

EducationUSA Host Institutions

Boston University

Boston University (BU) is a top 50 ranked national university located in America’s education capital and enrolls 34,000 students, including 11,000 international students. Our program’s theme is innovation and entrepreneurship and you will learn about innovative businesses from real working entrepreneurs, company visits, and professors from our Questrom School of Business. You will also meet BU International Admissions to learn how selective universities evaluate international applicants, get help with your application essay, tour BU and local universities like Harvard or MIT and a public university and community college, learn from a panel of current international students, and much more!

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, also known as “The Harvard of the Skies,” is the #1 university in the world for aviation and aerospace. Whether you join us in-person or virtually, you will improve your English, be introduced to a variety of STEM and aviation-related topics and gain an understanding of the admission process for studying at a U.S. university. You will also meet students from around the world and visit other U.S. colleges and universities. We are located just one hour from Walt Disney World, Universal Studies, the Kennedy Space Center, and St. Augustine—the oldest city in the United States. Students joining us in person will get to visit many of these places! Virtual field trips include campus visits, escape rooms, and other fun, team-building activities. St. Cloud State University

One of Minnesota’s largest public universities, St. Cloud State sits on the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Through this online program, you can get a head start on your college exploration and application by enhancing your writing. Meet and interact with international college students and faculty. Experience virtual visits to other universities. Gain knowledge about American culture and the American university system through workshops and panel discussions. Explore and learn about Minnesota virtually. Improve your English skills and obtain insights on college-entry exams and the American University system. We will assist you in creating a comprehensive personal statement to share with universities in your future application process.

St. John’s University

Located in the greatest city in the world—New York—St. John’s University offers a traditional college campus experience while being just a subway ride away from everything the city has to offer. Learn about what it takes to be a successful university student in the United States while improving your English and getting to know other ambitious students from around the world. By the program’s end, you will have experienced diverse cultures and beliefs, gained academic skills and readiness, become familiar with various academic institutions, volunteered to help others, and made new friends—all in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment!

Temple University

Prepare for your future at Temple University, located in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the United States. Live and learn with high school students from the U.S. and around the world on an urban campus and discover American culture as you explore the city’s rich history and world-famous art collections. Spend a day in New York City, at the beach, and at other nearby iconic locations. Choose a workshop from options such as health and medicine, engineering, arts, and world affairs. Build your knowledge and skills on topics like university admissions, leadership, academic presentations, and IELTS preparation. Temple’s Academy combines academics and excursions for three unforgettable, life-changing weeks!

University of Colorado Boulder

The University of Colorado Boulder offers a world-class educational experience in a setting of unparalleled natural beauty. Explore fields such as aerospace, engineering, international business, and sports management at a top-ranked research university with five Nobel Prize winners. Hike the majestic Rocky Mountains and breathe fresh Colorado air. Work closely with local entrepreneurs to develop a product or service pitch that you present to a panel of professionals. Build teamwork, communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with other international students. Meet key admissions officers at several universities and form new friendships in an academic and cultural adventure you will never forget.

University of North Georgia

Join other students at the University of North Georgia’s Academy to develop your leadership skills, STEAM knowledge, critical thinking skills, and understanding of American culture and history! You will have the opportunity to prepare essays, develop your discussion skills, tour public and private universities, and partner with American students in daily cultural, social, and sporting activities. All this takes place on a campus that is welcoming, respectful, one hour from Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains, streams, and forests. Whether you are in class interacting with a professor or visiting important historic and cultural sites such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, Jimmy Carter Library, Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, and the CNN Center, you will develop deeper knowledge and skills for university and create lasting memories and friendships at UNG’s Academy.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Recognized as one of the top 13 public universities in the country and 6th for research, your summer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison promises to provide you an unforgettable experience! In a city known for its warmth, safety and diversity, you will engage in our Entrepreneurship in Sustainability & Design track that allows you to engage with American peers, faculty and community members in Engineering, Business and Environmental Protection fields. Learn from world-recognized programs and faculty in your field, understand and prepare for the U.S. higher education system and experience social life on a beautiful U.S. campus. Live the Wisconsin Idea, become a Badger and extend your education beyond the classroom through three amazing weeks of educational, social and service engagement at UW-Madison!
